Menopause made me do it
Less drama, more dumbbells. Strong is the new sexy at any age. So I made it my mission to do something about it. I’m dipping my toes into strength training — and wow, what a difference! I can feel my muscles coming back to life, and honestly… I’m loving it. It definitely comes with a heavy dose of commitment, shaky arms, and sore bits and pieces.
Lessons from my mother
I had a real wake-up call this past month, and it got me thinking more deeply about the bigger picture of menopause—beyond the usual symptoms we all know: poor sleep, hot flashes, weight gain, brain fog, and hormonal depletion.
Warning: heart attacks in women don’t always look like you think
When we think of a heart attack, we often picture the classic “Hollywood” symptoms—sudden chest pain and clutching at the heart. But for women, it can look very different. Many women experience symptoms like pressure or discomfort in the chest, back, neck, jaw, or arm.
Am I losing my mind?
At 56 and postmenopausal, I vividly remember a time when I questioned whether I had early-onset Alzheimer’s because my brain refused to cooperate. Coherent thoughts were elusive, simple words escaped me, and I felt utterly disconnected from my own body.
Taming Menopause heat
If you’ve ever been caught off guard by a sudden wave of heat, followed by the rush of embarrassment and exhaustion, you’re not alone. In fact, 75% of women experience hot flashes during perimenopause and menopause. They can be frustrating, draining, and even disruptive to your daily life.
